In just over a week, President Obama will be in Copenhagen supporting the need for a global agreement on measures to combat climate change. The question now becomes how much leadership will he really show in Copenhagen ?

The question then becomes – ‘Should the US lead or follow?’. Should the EPA take action first, or should it wait for other major nations to take the initiative and protect US competitiveness?

Today we are faced with a new threat as significant as any before it. The affront to US national security by climate change has been raised by US military commanders in a report they authored titled National Security and the Threat of Climate Change.

The program seems to have made car dealers and manufacturers happy and, if the objective was solely to give a quick boost to the economy and brighten prospects for a recovery, it has to be judged successful.
